What is the Künstlerhaus Neu ?

In connection with the renovation of the Künstlerhaus in 2001 the
Salzburger Kunstverein has elaborated a new use concept that makes the Künstlerhaus the most important place for producing, exploring and presenting current international and regional art in Salzburg. The cooperation of various Salzburg cultural institutions results in concentrated synergetic effects that everyone benefits of. The lively discourse between producers from various fields and the public is a major part of this program. This network brings together artists, a public and patrons interested in art, scientists and politicians, who alltogether form an ideal platform for promoting communication between everyone involved.
On the one hand this concept is based on the general trend towards concentration and networking in the cultural sphere (cf. the cultural guidelines and development plan for culture in the city of Salzburg 2001). On the other hand it serves the consumers’ need to be supplied with a broad, varied and concentrated range of art.
Who are the main initiatives in the Künstlerhaus Neu?
In 2001 the Salzburger Kunstverein together with the cultural association goldextra, the Initiative Architektur Salzburg and the educational group ARTgenossen initiated Künstlerhaus New. wohnbund:consult, the office for City.Space.Development, became a member in 2002, ohnetitel, network for theater- and artprojects, joined the team in 2008 and since 2011 oenm is part of the initiative.
